With rigid yet light components, the 4-wheel multilink suspension teams with semi-active damping for crisp handling with silky smoothness. Industry-advancing Active Body Control® (ABC) is optional. Its innovative CURVE function leans into corners like a slalom skier to help reduce the g-forces you feel in the cabin when cornering.

Light, quick and efficient, the 9G-TRONIC automatic puts a wide range of ratios with shorter steps between them, to keep you on top of the engine's broad torque curve. Performance
Much as the SL body generates more strength from lighter mass, its biturbo engines rouse more power and torque from less fuel. Both the 362-hp V6 in the SL 450 and the 449-hp SL 550 V8 employ ultra-precise tech like piezoelectric Direct Injection and multispark ignition. Both self-tune with millisecond speed to quicken your 0-60 rush.

Easy-pack system
For convenient loading and unloading of the luggage when the hardtop is retracted, the Easy-pack system tilts the folded roof up when you press a button inside the trunk. When using HANDS-FREE ACCESS, it tilts up automatically when the trunk opens.

Pop-up roll bars
In 1989, Mercedes-Benz pioneered the pop-up roll bar, a significant advancement in convertible safety that continues to enhance protection today. When sensors detect an impending rollover, the dual roll bars of the SL deploy in a third of a second to help preserve and protect occupant space.
ATTENTION ASSIST
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.
