Dual-Function X-MODE
With standard dual-function X-MODE, the Onyx Edition can optimize the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with settings for snow/dirt and deep snow/mud – so you get maximum traction in almost any condition.
9.5 Inches of Ground Clearance with Front Skid Plate, Improved Angles, and Enhanced X-MODE®
With an elevated ground clearance of 9.5 inches and a standard front skid plate, you can take the Outback Wilderness into rougher terrain. Subaru Outback APPEARANCE
Anti-Glare Hood Design
The Outback Wilderness makes picking out your path a little easier, with a unique matte-black hood decal to help reduce glare out on the trail.
18-Inch Alloy Wheels
Standard 18-inch alloy wheels feature a gloss black finish and give the Onyx Edition a confident and composed foundation.
Standard Raised Roof Rails with Tie-Downs

Subaru Outback COMFORT
Harman Kardon® Premium Audio
The Harman Kardon premium audio system captures detail-rich acoustics through enhanced sound control and superior high sound output. At the heart of the system lies a high-performance 8-Channel class-D amplifier pumping out 576 equivalent watts of power. The amplifier works to efficiently distribute clean audio signals to the vehicle’s 12-speaker sound system – including a dedicated center channel speaker and subwoofer. Harman’s Clari-Fi™ Technology restores and corrects audio fidelity, resulting in musical reproduction that sounds clearer, crisper, and more dynamic.
Standard on: Limited, Touring, Limited XT, Touring XT
Cargo and Passenger Space
The 2023 Outback gives you up to 109 cubic feet of roomy passenger comfort in both the front and rear seats. That’s more passenger space than the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, or Jeep Grand Cherokee. Even full of passengers, you still get 32.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The available cargo area release levers make it even easier to fold the rear seats down, giving you up to 75.6 cubic feet of volume to haul more gear. Loading all that cargo is even easier with the available Hands-Free Power Rear Gate, which allows automatic opening even when your arms are full and lets you close and lock the entire vehicle with a single touch of the gate button.
Designed for Comfort
The 2023 Outback features newly upgraded comfort and convenience for every passenger. The available 12-way power front driver’s seat now includes a four-way power lumbar adjustment. The front seats also feature redesigned cargo pockets that offer more organizational options. Front and back passengers have newly available USB-C charging ports in addition to the traditional USB-A ports for future device compatibility. In back, the rear gate now has an available integrated LED lamp that helps illuminate cargo as well as the area behind the Outback. There’s also available soft, genuine Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel for a premium experience on every trip.

Subaru EyeSight
The Outback features upgraded standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology for 2023, which acts like an extra set of eyes on the road and, if need be, an extra foot on the brake when you drive. EyeSight includes a number of advanced active safety systems to protect you and your family on every drive. Automatic Emergency Steering, an all-new feature for the 2023 Outback, can help you avoid a collision by providing automatic steering and pre-collision braking support if it determines there’s enough space to intervene.
Pre-Collision Braking
Automatic Pre-Collision Braking helps avoid or reduce frontal impacts by alerting you and applying full braking force in emergency situations. Pre-Collision Throttle Management can reduce the power from the engine to help minimize the possible impact force and frontal impact damage.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering adds extra convenience and safety on every trip. Just choose the distance you want to keep from the car in front of you and it can take some of the stress out of everyday driving by helping with steering, braking, and throttle control while maintaining a safe distance ahead.
