12-inch instrument panel
The new-generation 12-inch instrument panel shows all the essential driver information that's needed to keep you constantly updated. It's designed to give you intuitive control and can easily be tailored to your needs and the current driving situation. The instrument panel features two display modes showing different levels of information: Calm and Navi.
Hill Start Assist
Hill Start Assist allows you to start uphill or downhill without the vehicle moving while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. It keeps the brakes applied for a short period after you've released the brake pedal.
Start/Stop technology
Our micro hybrid technology including a Start/Stop function further reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in the city. When you stop at a traffic light or in a traffic jam, the engine shuts off temporarily to eliminate idling and restarts instantly when you resume driving.

Two-zone climate system
Our powerful two-zone climate system automatically maintains the passenger compartment temperature you choose and can be set independently for the driver and passenger side. Floor air outlets and separate adjustable air vents in the roof pillars ensure a comfortable climate in the rear seat even during long drives. All cabin climate settings are easily controlled using intuitive touchscreen controls. An efficient cabin filter helps keep the incoming air free from dust, pollen and other particulates. And when the system's air quality sensor detects high levels of hazardous gases outside the vehicle, it will automatically shut the air intakes and activate passenger compartment air recirculation.
Interior mid-level illumination
The interior lighting is an important part of the experience inside your Volvo. In addition to the base-level illumination, the mid-level illumination includes mood lighting for the front seats, front footwell ambiance lighting, courtesy lighting, reading lights, tunnel rear storage illumination, illuminated vanity mirrors, glove compartment lighting and extra cargo compartment lighting.

Whiplash injury protection system
WHIPS™ is a Volvo safety innovation that efficiently helps reduce the risk of whiplash injury if your vehicle is hit from behind. On impact, the entire front backrest and head restraint move with the occupant to support the neck.
Inflatable Curtain
Our Inflatable Curtain helps protect your head and neck in a side-impact collision or roll-over. Helping to provide protection for occupants sitting on the sides of the vehicle, it deploys from the ceiling above the doors. The Inflatable Curtain also helps protect in some frontal collisions and stays inflated for several seconds to provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts.
Side impact protection
The SIPS™ side-impact protection system helps protect you and your passengers in a side-impact collision. The body's steel framework displaces the impact of a collision from the side away from the occupants to other parts of the vehicle body. The extremely strong side structure helps withstand a severe side impact – even with a larger vehicle. The Inflatable Curtain and the front-seat side airbags interact with SIPS™ to help provide further protection for the front-seat occupants. In the rear, SIPS™ and the Inflatable Curtain help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats.
