Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine
The legendary AMG biturbo V8 heart beats even stronger in the S 63 E PERFORMANCE. While part of a hybrid system, the gas engine alone can generate a breathtaking 604 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. Twin-scroll turbos with low-friction bearings are located in the engine's "hot V" for massive, virtually-lag-free boost. Zero to 60 mph can occur in just 3.3 seconds. Yet even with its advanced technologies, each engine is still hand-built and signed by its own craftsman.
Rear 150kW permanently synchronous electric motor
A 201-hp "permanently excited synchronous motor" (PSM) is mounted at the rear axle, part of an Electric Drive Unit that also includes a two-speed gearbox. Able to apply its torque instantly at full strength, its output can enhance takeoffs and passing, and even be sent toward the front wheels to enhance handling on a variety of surfaces. Together, the biturbo V8 and electric motor have a combined output of 791 hp and 1,055 lb-ft of torque.
AMG Electric Drive Unit with 2-speed gearbox
The rear-mounted Electric Drive Unit integrates the electric motor with an automated two-speed gearbox that offers the e-motor's benefits over a wider range of speeds. The EDU can also provide the benefits of a virtual limited-slip differential, by precisely apportioning the torque to each wheel based on changing demands as you corner, accelerate and brake. It can also adapt to road-surface friction, lateral forces and other conditions in real time, for enhanced cornering and feedback.
ECO Start/Stop system
A fuel-saving ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

A new twist on tradition
For the first time on an AMG S-Class, the iconic Star moves to the center of the AMG vertical-bar grille. On the hood is the AMG "Affalterbach" crest. The deep front apron, sculpted side sills and rear bumper all add an aggressively aerodynamic edge to the flowing, muscle-toned S-Class body.

Power-folding side mirrors
The side mirrors can be folded in at the touch of a button, adding convenience when parked in tight quarters. You can also program the mirrors to fold automatically when you remote-lock the vehicle, then unfold upon unlocking.
KEYLESS-GO with seamless door handles
A leap in ease and efficiency pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, KEYLESS-GO® lets you unlock, start and drive away without removing the SmartKey from your pocket or purse. You can lock and unlock the doors with a touch of the exterior handles. Seamless door handles retract flush with the bodywork, yet can extend to greet your hand as you approach. The handles can automatically deploy in special situations, such as after an accident.
Electronic trunk closer
For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open the trunk via a switch on the driver’s interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the underside of the trunk lid and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the lid if it detects an obstruction while closing, and the opening height can be easily set to a lower limit for low garages.
Burmester 3D Surround Sound system
The Burmester® 3D system pairs innovations in mobile audio with legendary quality. A Digitial Signal Processing amp can output 710 total watts to deliver a natural sound spectrum in any music genre. A total of 15 speakers includes 3D surround speakers, exquisitely drilled metal speaker grilles, and body-integrated FrontBass subwoofers. Along with preset listening modes, Sound Personalization can tailor settings to your individual tastes.
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display
A 12.3-inch high-resolution color screen in front of the driver offers customizable instrumentation. Driver-selectable AMG-design instrumentation styles include Modern Classic, Sporty, Discreet and Supersport. Supersport can show extensive performance info, such as a racing-inspired upshift prompt for the manual shift mode. Other data can include a warm-up menu, graphical G-force meter, and key powertrain info like hp/torque, hybrid power flow, and fluid temperatures.
Steering wheel with Touch Control Buttons
Innovative Touch Controls elevate the multifunction steering wheel to an unparalleled level of user-friendliness. Finger-sensitive buttons access features like audio, Bluetooth® and cruise control. Four smartphone-like pads offer direct control of countless cockpit features. The upper touchpads operate the menu screen in the gauge cluster or the central multimedia display. Larger, lower touchpads let you vary your cruising speed or adjust the audio volume, all with your hands on the wheel.

A Mercedes-Benz innovation, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® uses radar-based technology to adapt your cruise control speed in response to the flow of traffic. If the vehicle ahead slows to a stop, it can brake to a full halt. When traffic moves, you can resume with just a tap of the accelerator or resume button, or it can proceed automatically if the stop is under 60 seconds. Active Steering Assist
Active Steering Assist can be engaged whenever you're using DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control. Using cameras and other sensors to detect lane markings, guardrails and other vehicles, Active Steering Assist can help the driver keep the vehicle centered in its lane while cruising, even in gentle curves. When lane markings aren't visible, it can even follow the vehicle ahead. Enhancements can improve lane centering on highways or follow the road edge on non-striped roadways.
