Handcrafted 2.0L Inline-4 turbo with hybrid assist
The first "43" engine handcrafted in the AMG "One man, one engine" tradition applies technology from Formula 1® racing to advance performance with efficiency. A pioneering electric exhaust-gas turbocharger and belt-driven Starter-Generator team with advanced fuel injection, friction reduction and multi-level engine cooling. The result is an impressive output of 375 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque from a compact, lightweight and decidedly modern 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.
Driving modes, fingertip-close.
AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you fine-tune the throttle, shifting, damping, steering and more. Color display buttons on the steering wheel engage preset modes from Comfort to Sport+, or an Individual mode you can customize. The SL 55 Performance and SL 63 add a RACE mode.
Goes all-in on steering
Rear-axle steering can turn the rear wheels of the SL 55 and SL 63 up to 2.5 degrees, in phase with or opposite the fronts. Intelligent control factors speed, turning angle and other parameters for quicker, more stable handling at speed, or tighter, more nimble parking maneuvers.
Decelerates decisively
Massively powerful brakes feature perforated and ventilated discs, with silver, red or yellow 6-piston front calipers, depending on model and trim. AMG Carbon Ceramic brakes are standard on the SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE, with calipers in bronze or black.

LED Daytime Running Lamps and taillamps
Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. The LED taillamps feature a distinctive horizontal design.

2+2 seating
The 2+2 cockpit configuration offers the added practicality of twin rear seats suitable for two small passengers. Top tethers and anchors for child seats are included as well.
Dual-zone automatic climate control
Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes sun and humidity sensors, a dust/pollen filter, and an activated charcoal filter. It also automatically adjusts to whether the soft top is open or closed.
Wireless charging with NFC pairing
Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive charging tray in the console lets you charge your device's battery while you drive without plugging it in.
Power front seats with memory
Power front seats feature intuitive, seat-shaped controls on the door. To set and save your ideal driving position, a memory system for each front seat recalls three stored positions for the seat, plus the positions of the 4-way power steering column and side mirrors for the driver. Standard heating with automatic timed step-down adds soothing, controlled comfort in cool weather.
Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)
A breakthrough in automobile cockpit control, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience is further enhanced in the SL. MBUX integrates digital in-dash displays including a touchscreen, touch-sensitive controls, Bluetooth® hands-free and audio streaming, and an industry-advancing voice control system that responds to your everyday speaking voice and phrasing of commands. You can set up multiple user profiles of favored settings, and groups of settings can be saved as themes or moods.
Electronic trunk closer
For added convenience in the rain or with an armful of packages, you can fully open the trunk via a switch on the driver's interior door panel or a button on the SmartKey remote. Press a button on the underside of the trunk lid and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the lid if it detects an obstruction while closing, and the opening height can be easily set to a lower limit for low garages.

Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
Crosswind Assist
Interpreting information that is continually supplied by the car's Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), electric power steering and suspension sensors, Crosswind Assist can help detect the effects of strong side winds on the vehicle's handling stability at highway speeds. Whether caused by lateral gusts or even a passing truck, the system can help keep the car on course via strategic braking of the wheels on one side of the vehicle.
Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist
When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passenger to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.
10 air bags
An advanced system of 10 air bags offers extensive occupant protection. Standard for the driver and front passenger are dual two-stage front air bags, knee air bags, and side-impact air bags. Also standard is a head air bag at each of the four seating positions, a feature not often found in a roadster.
